How Transfer Dies Work: Intelligent, Sequential Forming
A transfer die system operates within a single press. The process begins with a blank being fed into the first station. After each press stroke, a synchronized mechanical or robotic transfer mechanism picks up the part and moves it to the next station, where a subsequent operation (drawing, re-drawing, ironing, trimming, piercing) is performed. This continues until the finished part is ejected. This method combines the automation of progressive dies with the flexibility of individual tooling stations, making it ideal for creating sophisticated enclosures, containers, and assemblies.
